do you know the meaning of "Satoshi"?

From the reaction to my past article, I learned that many foreign people know the information of Japanese anime relating with Japanese language.
So, today, I'd like to explain about more deep knowledge.
That is, the meaning of Satoshi's name.
(As you know, Satoshi is the character of Pokemon.)

1) First name in Japan
In Japan, when people give a name to a child, they consider about the meaning of his or her name.
And the meaning of the name comes from its characteristic, which is known as KANJI !

2) How to write Satoshi in Kanji?
We can know the meaning of his name when we see the Kanji of it.
However, there is a little problem.
In Japan, Satoshi is written in KATAKANA, which stand for just its pronunciation...

...Don't worry. Then, we can try to detect it!

3) Let's detect!
Actually, Satoshi is very popular name in Japan.
(I have 3 friends whose name is Satoshi!)
And it can be written in certain ways, which is
聡史、彗、悟志

聡史 and 彗 means "this boy is clever."
悟志 means "this boy has good taste."

Then, you may think that his name is 悟志.
However, I think his name is 彗.
Because, 彗 is used by a word "彗星," which means comet.
And then, this name can express "this boy is speedy and cool like a comet!"

Of course, this is just my opinion.
When you want to know about other character's name, please leave a comment!
Thank you^_^

The principle of Japanese popular manga and anime

Actually, many people looked my yesterday’s article. Thank you!
And I know the popularity of Japanese manga by that.
Then, I’d like to explain about the principle of Japanese manga.

That is

“Friendship, Effort, Victory”

1) Background
I heard that Japanese popular manga in abroad are “NARUTO” and “Dragon Ball.”
Both manga is published in the same magazine, which is “JUMP.”
 http://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/images/fotolife/p/poison3rd/20110608/20110608200108.jpg

JUMP has other popular manga such as “ONE PIECE” and “GINTAMA.”
This is the most popular magazine in Japan.
And it is categorized as “magazine for boys.”
There are many “magazines for boys” in Japan, such as “KOROKORO (ex. DORAEMON)” and “SUNDAY (ex. DITECTIVE CONAN.)”
So, each magazine should have their characteristics.
Then, the principle of JUMP became “Friendship, Effort, Victory.”

2) Effect

How does this principle work?
For example, let’s look at NARUTO.
NARUTO has three main themes.
1. FRIENDSHIP with Sasuke.
2. EFFORT to be a Hokage.
3. VICTORY to Madara.
You can adapt this three-themes structure in every JUMP manga!

3) Conclusion

As I said, JUMP is the most popular magazine in Japan.
This is because its principle touches our heart, I think.
When Naruto shouts “Sasuke!” or Luffy shouts “I'll become the Pirate King!" or Goku beats enemies by SUPER power, our hearts beats hotly and fastly.

When you watch the Japanese manga or anime, please remember that.
Thank you!

What does “NARUTO” mean?

Today, I’d like to explain about NARUTO, which is one of the most popular Japanese anime in the world.
(If you don’t know about NARUTO, this article is not interesting to you)

By the way, do you know what the word “naruto” means in Japanese?
One of my foreign friends didn’t know that, even though she loves NARUTO very much.
Actually, “naruto” stands for this food in Japanese.

This is produced by fish paste, drawn a spiralmark.
And there are some interesting stories.

1) His favorite food
Naruto’s favorite food is noodle.
And actually, naruto is often put on noodles in Japan.

2) Naruto’s family name
As you know, his family name is “Uzumaki.”
Actually, “Uzumaki” means spiral in Japanese.

3) Spiral
As I explain, “Naruto = Uzumaki” stands for “Food which has spiral = Spiral.”
Look at his bandanna. There is a spiral mark.
Moreover, “Rasen-gan,” which is Naruto’s most powerful attack, means “Spiral Ball”!!

That’s all.
If you were to know the Japanese language and culture, you could understand and enjoy Japanese anime more and more.
Thank you for reading!

(If you want to know about other character or anime, please say it in comments.)
